Mercure Arbat Hotel (Moscow)
Client asked us to prepare recommendations for sound isolation of the hotel. Usually there are several issues in such a building: isolation between rooms, isolation of engineering equipment and ventilation system, isolation of outer walls.
Our work in Mercure Arbat started from acoustic measures. We recorded data in different rooms and different time of the day. Than using our recommendations builders started their work. Floors were isolated from vibration and sound with complex of Sylomer elastomer pads + Shumostop sound absorbing mineral wool. Then construction of the floor was covered with concrete to get so called “floating floor”. Concrete platform has no touch with floor or walls so vibration can’t be passed to the construction of the building. Walls and ceiling were isolated with metal framework filled with sound absorbing wool. Vibrations caused by engineering equipment were isolated with elastomer pads or spring vibration isolators with integrated dampers.
