Acoustic Group took a multifaceted approach to tackling hotel acoustics issues. There were three of them to solve. First, lots of equipment, such as refrigerating machinery, aeration systems, power transformers etc. that caused vibration throughout all the building construction. Vibration in its turn, caused impact noise. The second issue was engineering equipment placed on the roof which caused airborne noise around the building. This noise disturbed local residents. The last but not the least issue was to isolate rooms from each other to provide maximum comfort level for the guests.

To isolate equipment vibration, we used complex of solutions. If equipment was placed on its own foundation, we used Sylomer. Sylomer is elastic, versatile polyurethane material. This spacer was placed between lower and upper parts of the foundation. If there was no base under equipment we used Isotop, which is spring/damper combination. The roof equipment was isolated with Isotop and surrounded by sound absorbing panels. For the guests’ room we used “floating floor” in bathrooms and special carpets in bedrooms. Walls were equipped with isolating panels attached to the metal frame filled with sound absorbing mineral cotton.
